// 01. GENERAL STATION & BIO-SONIFICATION
What is Plantland Radio?

Plantland Radio is an independent, 24/7 bio-sonification broadcast platform based in Copenhagen. We stream continuous interspecies soundscapes—translating real-time biological data, microtonal plant frequencies, and bio-synth compositions into a life-positive audio stream designed for focus, deep listening, and eco-coherence.

What is bio-sonification (or "plant music")?

Bio-sonification is the process of measuring micro-fluctuations in electrical conductivity and capacitance across plant tissues using non-invasive sensors. These live biological data streams are translated in real time into pitch, rhythm, and tone using synthesizers and custom open-source hardware like the BECA device.

Is the stream pre-recorded or live?

Plantland Radio streams a combination of real-time bio-sonification audio feeds, generative plant-driven MIDI compositions, curated ambient sets, and field recordings submitted by sound artists and researchers worldwide.

Can artists submit their work to be played on Plantland Radio?

Yes! We operate as an open-source sanctuary and collective platform for the bio-sonification movement. If you create plant-driven music, bio-telemetry compositions, or biosphere field recordings, you can submit your high-res audio tracks directly via mailbox@plantlandradio.com.

  • Connected Vehicle Systems: Native streaming is available on Tesla, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz MBUX, and BMW connected vehicle decks via built-in internet radio apps.
How does Plantland Radio work with open-source hardware and DIY setups?

We feed real-time station metadata directly into the Radio-Browser API network. This allows decentralized audio software, VLC Media Player, custom Raspberry Pi audio builds, and DIY bio-sonification hardware nodes to pull the stream automatically over the open web.

// 03. COMMUNITY & ECOSYSTEM HANGOUT
Where is the official Plantland Radio community forum?

We have partnered with Tigrilla Gardenia and the Naturally Conscious Community as our official online hangout and community forum!

Inside the community hub, listeners and artists can meet to discuss bio-sonification research, share custom DIY hardware setups (including the BECA device), ask questions, and chat live during 24/7 broadcasts. Access is free for all Plantland Radio listeners at naturallyconsciouscommunity.com.
